Here is the screencast of my geometry unit on angles. This unit is intended for use in my 10th grade learning support math class. The activities are the assessments for each lesson and will be used in conjunction with direct instruction, independent practice, and traditional homework assignments.
Your unit seems like it will be much more engaging and authentic than any geometry units I remember from high school. Also, voice thread sounds like a great tool with a lot of possibilities.
Geometry can be a difficult subject to overcome and you did a great job explaining and keeping the sudents engaged by creating video and powerpoints on the topic.
I like it. It is similar to having the students teach the content, but instead you are having them create a video. I really like the idea. I also like how organized the entire project is. Any time I have every had a issue with a lesson or unit it is because it wasn't organized in a way that was easily digestible for the students. You did that, Great job.
Geometry is not an easy fete for our students. I like how comprehensive your unit appears. Allowing students to be assessed in many different ways will offer you the best picture of what they are truly capable of, not just what they are capable of memorizing! Will you actually use this in your classroom?
Very cool project. To be honest I hate math but I really want to be in your class. I love the video idea. I hope this project works out for you. Great Job
As a fellow math teacher, I understand how difficult it can be to get through a geometry unit with students. Year after year it is my school's lowest scoring portion of the state test. Your project seems like a great way to get the students more engaged in a unit that they may traditionally have a lot of difficulty with. I really like the unit and the integration of google docs to assess the student understanding through the lesson.
I really liked how you kept your students engaged in the topic with the material that you provided in your unit. I'm not the person who likes math that much and I feel that this would have made it easier. Anyways though great job on your presentation.
